Mental Health Nurse turns “Bead Crazy”
I’ve been a Psychiatric RN for 34 years. I no longer work with patients since moving to management and felt a need to show my creativity in a different way. So I chose beads. I love beads. Went a little “bead crazy”. I share my new work-at-home office with my little bead workspace. Beads everywhere! The tables, the floor, the computer keyboard, the dog’s hair, the cat’s paws, kidding. But yes, beads are my thing. I started with jewelry and selling at the local Farmers Market. Living in Southern California allows me a lot of outdoor time. One day at the Farmers Market it was kind of windy and it felt so good. I thought I’d try making a wind chime with my leftover jewelry beads. So I dumped them all in a box and started creating. The store-bought driftwood was boring and over-priced. So I went up the canyon road by my house and found beautiful driftwood just lying by the stream. Feeling sorry for the wood, I gave it a home, cut it up, soaked it in a bleach solution, sanded it a bit, and that started my little beaded wind chime shop in 2018. Making these relaxes me and I hope looking at the sparkle in the sun and hearing the light sound of the bells in the breeze relaxes you too and makes you happy like it does me.
