A Brief History of Colors of Hope Crafts and Ongoing Projects
In the summer of 2007, the Jane Adams Hull House sponsored the Chicago Reef Project where 120 volunteers, including myself, helped crochet a 3D model of the Great Barrier Reef in order to raise awareness about Global Warming. (See https://crochetcoralreef.org/exhibitions/chicago-cultural-center/ for more information) The exhibit was on display in Chicago, New York, London, L. A., and a few places in Europe. Though I no longer have any of the original pieces, I have continued to make coral pieces for decorations and wedding presents. But now it's time for other people to enjoy them!
In the time since then, I have spent countless hours practicing and toning my skills, and I am humbled that I can be a part of this amazing community! In addition to crocheting, I also knit and spin yarn on a spinning wheel. I would not be able to create the things I do without the amazing fiber artists I've encountered over the last five years! My mission is to help others create beautiful things, and find joy and relaxation while doing it.
In early 2020, I started making fiber art videos in the style of ASMR with the goal of showing people how relaxing and fun fiber art can be. The link to the website is www.youtube.com/c/colorsofhopecraftsASMR. Please check it out!
