From Data Director to Data Designer: The Story Behind My Etsy Shop

Throughout my whole professional career, data has been woven into every role I've taken on. Recently, I transitioned into a new position as the Director of Data Strategy within HR, which felt like the perfect time to refresh my wardrobe with shirts that would reflect my enthusiasm for data—especially ones I could confidently wear to the office.

So, I started searching Etsy, hoping to find data-themed slogan shirts that felt both clever and professional. But after scrolling through pages of nearly identical designs, I realized I'd have to mix and match from multiple shops just to get a few unique options. I eventually ordered a handful, and when I wore them to work, my coworkers assumed I’d made them myself. When I explained they were Etsy finds, someone joked that I should just start creating them. That planted the seed of an idea.

Four months later, that idea became reality. Armed with a list of slogans and design inspiration, I created my first ten data-themed shirts and launched my Etsy shop. Now, I get to share my love of data in a whole new way—through designs that speak to analytics enthusiasts everywhere, one clever T-shirt at a time!
