Flapperatsy

I am an ardent follower of jazz and as a young girl would listen to my grandmother and Uncles playing jazz piano. I was particularly interested in the 1940s and 1950s music and the fashion of that time went hand in hand with the music I loved. My daughter grew up to be a jazz singer, influenced by the many gigs I used to take her to and now my beautiful grand daughter who is the model in most of my photographs, sings and plays the piano and is a budding film producer - as you can see she is a natural model. I was a legal secretary but my creative side was itching to get out and did after a visit to Camden Town market in the 1980s. I managed to get a small stall in the Electric Ballroom in Camden on a Sunday which was a club the rest of the week, the music was wonderful and one of my first customers was John Malkovitz. Soon after this I had the bug and managed to get a stall in the Piazza at Covent Garden. I have worn Vintage clothing most of my adult life, I have shoes handbags and jewellery I use whenever the occasion arises that I never tire of. This is the joy of owning a special vintage accessory. They are timeless.
I spent eight years learning my trade at street level in the London markets until I took on a shop in Notting Hill Gate London and spent twenty five wonderful years serving the famous people who lived and worked in the area - needless to say the film put us on the map. I no longer have the shop and miss it so much, but still keep my hand in by selling on Etsy and on my own website dollydiamond.com I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on and can find most things people need. Fortunately my grand daughter loves my own personal collection and I take great joy in knowing that one day she will inherit this and these pieces will live on in her wardrobe.
