I revive old typewriters to be fully functional.
I opened the shop a couple years ago to sell handmade wood projects. (I still do wood projects, but have been busy with life and my love for typewriters, so it has taken a hiatus =). I am a very handy person and good with my hands. When I was a boy I used to love taking things apart to see how they work and put them back together. Sometimes I was able to get them working again. Haha. Just ask my dad about his camcorder back in 1988! He still brings that up. My love for typewriters began with my wife and I shared hobby of antiquing. I picked up my first typewriter in Canton, South Dakota and shipped it home: a 1930's Burroughs Standard. Ahhhh. What a beautiful machine. I became obsessed. I would buy typewriters, no mater the condition, just to see if I could fix them. I bought all condition of typewriter: those that were in really good repair to those destined for the dump. I started to have, what my wife referred to as, a typewriter rescue. I think all typewriters want to be restored and used again. That's where people like myself come in. My "collection" was nearing 30 typewriters! My wife suggested using our Etsy store to share in my love of typewriters with YOU! The store name? Monte is part of the family, our pet. He's a 5 year old Biewer Yorkie rescue.
