Peruvian Blankets
These blankets were initially created to cover from the frosts of the Andean heights, in our high cities in Peru, the cold can reach below 0ºC, the Andean mothers created this weaving technique made in "Loom" to take care and protect their whole family from the dangers of the cold in their areas, this technique was created by the people of Puno and Cuzco more than 2000 years ago.
Andean women had the obligation to learn how to weave and teach the women of the family this legacy. All the designs learned are transmitted from generation to generation and are inspired by beliefs, religion, nature, flora and fauna.
The women only had knowledge of their own villages, because many of these villages are very far from the city, and have no road.
The women artisans express their daily life experiences in these textiles because they did not know how to read or write and this is a form of expression. Each figure has a different meaning. You can find:
Inca calendar, lagoons, Andean duality (men and women), puma claws, Inca princess eyes, puma eyes, condor beak and many other shapes.
Each blanket is made in a unique and natural way.
Different types of plants and fruits are used for the painting to acquire each color.a
IncaLegacyPeru – Where Textile Art Tells Stories 🌿
At IncaLegacyPeru, we do more than sell handmade pieces — we help preserve a living culture, honor ancestral traditions, and share the soul of the Andes with the world.
Each piece in our collection is carefully handcrafted by skilled Andean artisans using ancient weaving techniques passed down from generation to generation. Every thread carries history, identity, and the spirit of a culture that continues to live through its art.
To us, textile art is not simply decoration. It is memory, heritage, and cultural expression. That is why each rug is given a name in Quechua, the native language of the Andes, as a tribute to its origins and to the communities that bring these creations to life. These names are more than titles they are stories woven into every piece.
In a world dominated by mass production and fast consumption, our mission is to protect the authenticity and beauty of Peru’s ancestral craftsmanship. We want every person who brings one of our pieces into their home to feel they are acquiring something meaningful: not only art, but history, purpose, and human connection.
Every purchase directly supports Andean artisan communities working to keep their traditions alive despite the passing of time. Your support helps future generations grow up witnessing the pride, wisdom, and artistry of their ancestors.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Thank you for helping Andean culture remain alive, valued, and celebrated around the world. ❤️
