The story of how my hobby turned into my small business
My passion for handicrafts spans two decades. I have been engaged in creating handmade items that brought joy to me and my loved ones. I lovingly created table linens, decorative pillows, putting a piece of my soul into each item.
However, on February 24, 2022, my life changed drastically. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia forced me to leave my home in my hometown, which is currently under occupation. This tragic event overturned my usual existence and deprived me of the opportunity to pursue my favorite activity in familiar conditions.
Moving to a safer place became for me not only a challenge but also an impetus for new decisions. Finding myself in difficult life circumstances, I realized that my hobby could become not only a source of income but also a way to maintain a connection with my past and find new support in the future.
This is how the idea of turning my long-standing passion into a small business was born. Each item created by my hands carries the warmth of Ukrainian craftsmanship and a piece of my personal history.
Why I Create
In a world that is always rushing, I believe our homes should be our sanctuaries. I’ve always been drawn to natural materials, which bring a sense of groundedness and peace into any space. Whether it’s a textured basket or a delicate embroidered placemat, my goal is to create "visual anchors" that make your daily rituals feel special.
From Ukraine with Love
Every order is prepared in my workshop in Ukraine. Even though my creations often travel across oceans to reach places like Ohio or Washington, the distance only makes the connection more meaningful.
I personally pack every item, often adding a handwritten note, because I want you to feel the same joy receiving the package as I felt creating it. When you choose a piece from my shop, you’re not just buying home decor, you’re supporting a dream and bringing a piece of Ukrainian soul into your home.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I hope my work brings as much comfort to your home as it brings to mine.
With love and gratitude, Yuliia Shapo
