SeaGlass echo of History
Hello and welcome to my little shop!
Every item you see here was found by me on the beautiful beaches near our home along the famous Golden Mile in Marbella.
Marbella is often known as the Spanish Riviera—a glamorous destination for the jet set and celebrities. But beyond its modern luxury lies a rich, ancient history that many visitors overlook.
The story of Marbella dates back to around 1600 BC, when it was conquered by the Romans, who named it Salduba, meaning “Salt City.” Yet archaeological discoveries show that this area has been inhabited since even earlier—during the Paleolithic and Phoenician periods.
Over the years, countless ceramic and metal artifacts, along with burial sites, have been uncovered along the coast and inland areas of Marbella. In just the past 50 years, this former fishing and farming village has transformed into an international destination, yet it still holds onto the layers of history that shaped it.
Each day, I walk along these historic shores, searching for little treasures that catch my eye: genuine sea glass, antique terracotta pottery shards, smooth pebbles, driftwood, sea urchins, and shells. (Don’t worry—I only collect empty shells and urchins washed ashore by the sea. I never take anything living.)
Everything that comes from this coastline feels magical—where history, mythology, hopes, and dreams all intertwine.
Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy exploring my beach finds as much as I enjoy discovering them.
Have a beautiful day! 🌊
