¡Calentar, batir y repetir!
Heat, Beat, & Repeat!
Desde que era un niño en los años 80, siempre disfruté de trabajar con mis manos. Desde hacer monjas con el viejo poste de la tienda de campaña del ejército de mi papá (lo siento, papá) hasta apagar todos los fusibles de la casa para "arreglar" el secador de pelo de mi mamá, siempre tuve una mente curiosa y la voluntad de hacer lo que quisiera.
Avanzando rápidamente hasta el final de mi carrera en el ejército, redescubrí esta pasión a través de la metalistería, particularmente la herrería. Una noche de 2019, al regresar a casa después de un largo día de trabajo, descubrí una fragua de propano de dos quemadores que me bloqueaba el paso en medio del garaje. Mi esposa había intervenido. Después de horas de sufrir por mi hábito de ver Forged in Fire, tomó medidas y me compró una fragua. La nueva fragua pronto dio lugar a un yunque, martillos y tenazas. De alguna manera, ese humilde comienzo se convirtió en un taller ahora bien equipado en el patio trasero.
Trabajar el metal es una labor que hago con mucho cariño, y siempre lo haré, y esta tienda de Etsy me da la oportunidad de compartir algunas de las pequeñas cosas que hago y que creo que son geniales y especiales. Me enorgullezco de estos artículos, especialmente de sus imperfecciones. Así es la vida, equilibrada por fuerzas opuestas. Ahora que estoy jubilada, planeo seguir haciendo aún más cosas para compartir aquí en Etsy.
Since I was a kid in the 80s, I have always enjoyed working with my hands. From making nun chucks with my Dad's old army tent pole (sorry, Dad) to blowing out all the fuses in the house "fixing" my Mom's hairdryer, I have always had an inquisitive mind and the will to see it done.
Fast forward to the end of a career in the military, I rediscovered this passion through metalworking, particularly blacksmithing. One evening in 2019, returning home from a long day at work, I discovered a two-burner propane forge blocking my way in the middle of the garage. My wife had intervened. After hours of suffering through my habit of watching Forged in Fire, she took action and bought me a forge. The new forge soon led to an anvil, hammers, and tongs. Somehow, that humble beginning grew into a now well-appointed workshop in the backyard.
Metalworking is a labor of love, which I will always do, and this Etsy shop gives me a chance to share some of the small things I make that I think are cool and special. I take pride in these items, especially in their imperfections. Such is life, balanced by opposing forces. Now that I am retired, I plan to continue making even more things to share here on Etsy.
