Got my first pair of metal wheels age 4! I fell until I learned to roll. I got good enough to hang on to my bro's sissy bar while he pulled me around, until I fell on the tire and got rubber burn on my stomach! Ouch! Too stubborn to stop. Derby on.

Frequently asked questions

Does it matter where on my helmet my decals go?

Typically, the name goes on the right side of the helmet so the fans can see it and the number on the left side, front, or back for the refs.

Custom and personalized orders

Custom means I make it just the way you want it! Don't know what you want, ask me for advice!

Why are the letters one way and the numbers another for the bones font?

The 'Crissy Crossbones' (font #5) doesn't have numerals. That happens sometimes. It is too cool of a font to leave out because of that. I will send an example (if you order a number) in a replacement font for your approval.

Care instructions

Please handle your helmet with care after applying decals. You don't want it to kick around inside your skate bag. If it does, expect some wear. To care for them in the way for them to last, attach your helmet to the outside of your bag so it stays clear of friction wear. If you have to put it in your skate bag, put your helmet in a mesh or cloth bag to store.

Application instructions

Clean surface well. Remove backing.
Position carefully, where it touches, it sticks.
Do not reposition.
Work out from center, smoothing down and out.
Smooth any bubbles out.
Remove application tape.
Admire a job well done.
Finer details-
Clean surface with soap and water.
Use a credit card or squeegee to smooth.
If any air bubbles remain, poke with needle
and smooth air out. Clean with soapy water.
Dry using soft cloth. Use no solvents.
For best results cut stacked names in half
and apply each separately.
Practice with lil extra included in package.

I can't find a font shown in an example?

I rotated that font out of use after several people had issues with the pointy ends peeling up.
If you are set on using it, I can make it for you, it just won't be covered by my guarantee. Just pick 'custom' option from the dropdown menu and leave a note in the personalization box that you want the old number 35 font. Or feel free to message me your derby name and I will work it up in some examples for you to see!

Can I reuse my decals?

If you want to recycle your sticker after your helmet is spent, hit it with the heat of the blow dryer, not too close, but warm it slowly. Or put it on your car dashboard in the sun to heat it up. That's your best bet towards getting it off to reuse. Two color decals may be easier to remove for reuse than a single layer design. You may need to glue or epoxy it to make it stick after removing from original surface.
But of course I'll make you a new one if you need it! Good luck with that let me know how it goes.

Automated message/Business hours?

Isn't an online shop basically always open? Yes, it is. But etsy has an algorithm now that if I don't make the metrics of in timing in returning a message back to you, then it dings my rep. Rep is everything, or nothing, depending on who you ask.
Auto-reply from Laura K:
Hii! Thank you for reaching out to TLKellyGraphics. This is an automated message. You’ve reached me outside of my working hours, but I’ll respond as soon as I’m back.
Thanks for your patience! I look forward to working with you!

Limits to the medium

The plotter/cutter I work with has a lot of creativity but can only do so much. The vinyl medium isn't equipped to create excessive worn, jagged, color fade or gradient font/results. Thick, solid lines like in the examples I have available on the font board in my pictures are all very compatible. Size can also be a limitation. I can only cut things so small and still be able to make them functional. I'll always take the time to advise you if you have a request that isn't suitable.
The program I use to display work has its limitations on how well it depicts the finished product. Refer to the color palette shown in every listing to more accurately show the colors.
