How These Maps Are Created in Four Steps

Hello! We’re thrilled to see your interest in our maps! Our passion for geography and art drives us to create these unique pieces. These are restored vintage maps combined with modern relief maps created using satellite elevation data. While the maps are printed in 2D and flat to the touch, they visually showcase the terrain in a way that blends vintage aesthetics with contemporary techniques, offering a fresh perspective.
The elevation data comes from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), and we use specialized software and techniques to give the maps a lifelike relief appearance. Some maps are purely stylized to look antique or modern, while others, such as those of the moon, planets, and world maps, follow the same creative process. The rest are based on authentic vintage maps. Creating these maps is a meticulous process. To give you an idea, the steps are illustrated in the images above:

How long does fulfillment take?

2-5 business days from January to October and 2-10 in November and December.

Taxes

Taxes are based on the shipping location and depend on your country/state. Etsy charges it automatically, if applicable. Starting on January 1, 2021, Etsy will charge VAT from UK and European buyers. Buyers will see prices with VAT included when viewing maps in search and browse, as well as on the listing page. The VAT amount seen before purchase is an approximate value. The final VAT amount will be calculated at checkout. In the USA, Canada, and Australia, Etsy includes other local taxes in the final price.

Custom maps

I am currently not accepting orders for custom maps. I do not charge extra fees, but making a custom map depends on the availability of data and old maps. It may be impossible to create a good map of your state/province/island/country. Please send me a message if you have any doubts.

Wrong Prints, damaged prints, or if it was not what you expected

Sometimes, I use the services of a specialized company to print and ship the maps, depending on your location. This speeds up the process. Because of this, I am unable to inspect every map before it is sent out. If you have any issues with your map, please let me know. If you receive a damaged map, please contact me with some photos, and I will send you a replacement or issue a refund.

Something to know before placing your order

1 - These are not 3D maps. They are 2D maps printed on a flat paper. You cannot touch or feel any relief, even if you purchase a framed map.
2 - These are decorative maps. They are NOT for study, reference, or close-ups. Their purpose is purely for decoration, something to be viewed as a whole.
3 - You may not be able to read some captions and labels, especially in shaded areas.

Yellowing and/or Staining

Some maps may have yellowed or smudged areas (including the borders). This happens because I create maps based on very old ones. It is not a printing issue
