Aunque With a Wildflower nació por capricho (o lo que ahora sé que fue un impulso de Dios), nos comprometemos a construir una marca de estilo de vida única que fusione la fe y la moda, lo moderno y lo vintage. ¡Así es como empezamos! Ante una carga financiera, mi esposo decidió de repente que iba a empezar a vender camisetas impresas bajo demanda como un trabajo extra. Esto fue después de ver anuncios en redes sociales que lo hacían parecer un plan para hacerse rico rápidamente (¡pon los ojos en blanco, jaja!). Su primera noche trabajando en su primer diseño... digamos que no le iba muy bien. Le dije que me pasara la laptop y me dejara ayudar. Creé un diseño bastante bueno en unos 10 minutos y enseguida vi lo divertido que podía ser, además de una salida creativa. Ni que decir tiene que mi esposo decidió abruptamente cambiar de trabajo extra esa noche.
Tras sentir el impulso de Dios y decidirme a lanzarme (¡después de todo, tengo un título en Comercialización de Moda!), comencé a pensar en cómo quería que fuera nuestra marca. Había sentido la falta de propósito en mi trabajo de tiempo completo y sabía que quería hacer algo que glorificara a Dios, así que decidí que la ropa con temática religiosa sería mi enfoque. Sin embargo, tenía la visión de ser más que solo ropa: quería construir una marca de estilo de vida. Anteriormente, había vendido decoración vintage para el hogar en otra plataforma durante unos años, pero decidí cerrar ese negocio. Extrañaba mucho la emoción de la búsqueda de artículos vintage y compartir mis artículos únicos con los demás, así que pensé: ¿por qué no combinar mi pasión por vender artículos vintage para el hogar con mis nuevos proyectos de ropa? ¿Quizás podría crear un ambiente especial?
¿Y cómo surgió el nombre With A Wildflower? Siempre me ha encantado el versículo de Lucas 12:27: «Consideren cómo crecen las flores silvestres…» y sentía que las flores silvestres evocaban a la perfección la esencia de nuestra imagen de marca: sencilla, bonita, despreocupada, bohemia y única. Aquí están los versículos 27 y 28 para el contexto completo:
27 »Consideren cómo crecen las flores silvestres. No trabajan ni hilan. Sin embargo, les digo que ni siquiera Salomón en todo su esplendor se vistió como una de ellas. 28 Si así viste Dios a la hierba del campo, que hoy está aquí y mañana es arrojada al fuego, ¡cuánto más los vestirá a ustedes, hombres de poca fe!
Este versículo cobró aún más impacto cuando perdí mi trabajo de tiempo completo inesperadamente ocho meses después de iniciar este negocio. Si bien esto ciertamente causó gran temor en nuestra familia, confiamos y seguimos confiando en sus promesas y sabemos que Él guiará a With A Wildflower adonde debe ir. Para quienes enfrentan incertidumbre, oro para que este versículo también los anime.

So here's the story of how we really got started! Faced with a financial burden, my husband had suddenly decided that he was going to start selling print on demand tshirts as a side hustle. This was after watching social media ads making it sound like a get-rich-quick scheme (insert slight eye roll here haha). His first night working on his first design...let's just say it wasn't going so well. I told him to pass the laptop and let me help. I cranked out a pretty good design in about 10 minutes and quickly saw how fun this could be, as well as a creative outlet for myself. Needless to say my husband abruptly decided to switch side hustle "careers" that night.
After feeling the nudge from God and deciding I was going to go for it (I do have a degree in Fashion Merchandising after all!), I began brainstorming exactly what I wanted our brand to be. I had been feeling the lack of purpose at my full-time job and knew I wanted to do something that could bring glory to God, so I decided that faith-based apparel would be my focus. However, I had a vision of being more than just apparel - I wanted to build a lifestyle brand. I had previously sold vintage home decor on another platform for a few years but made the decision to dissolve that business. I really missed the thrill of the vintage hunt and sharing my one-of-a-kind items with others so I thought, why not mix my love of selling vintage home goods with my newest apparel endeavors? Maybe I could create a whole "vibe?"
And how the With A Wildflower name came about? I have always loved the verse from Luke 12:27: “Consider how the wildflowers grow…” and felt that wildflowers perfectly evoke the essence of what our brand image is: simple, pretty, carefree, boho, one-of-a-kind. Here are verses 27-28 for full context:
27 “Consider how the wildflowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!
This verse became even more impactful as I lost my full-time job unexpectedly eight months in to starting this business. While this certainly caused great fear for our family, we trusted and are still trusting in His promises and know that He will lead With A Wildflower where it is meant to go. For anyone facing uncertainty, I pray that this verse encourages you too.
