This is a pack of three mini zines that teach about consent and LGBTQ+ acceptance. These zines are G-rated and are ideal for ages 5-10. They are a great way to introduce these topics and spark some fruitful conversations with the young people in your life!
Here's what you get:
1. * Teaching Consent to My Kitten *
A zine about kittens! And consent!
This zine is a great introduction to the concept of consent. It combines cuteness, cuddles, furry animals, and good consent practices to show how consent can be used in all parts of life, not just sex.
The story is by Sierra Black and is based on her real-life experiences with teaching a kitten in her life how consent works. The illustrations are by Medusa Cascade. Sierra and Medusa are both Boston-based activists.
2. * What Does Queer Mean? *
This affirming, happy zine introduces the concept of queer love in simple terms. It also explains that we each get to define our gender for ourselves. Queer means loving who you love and expressing your gender however feels right to you!
Made by Nicole Mazzeo.
3. * That’s OK! *
A very sweet little zine about consent told through the story of a knight who rescues a princess. The knight goes through hardship to get to her, but she refuses to live happily ever after with him. He respects her decision, no questions asked. Because she has the right to make her own choices!
Written by an anonymous college student in Boston. Art by Medusa Cascade.
