"Deponirt" (old writing form of "deponiert") is a term used in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. It is based on the French "deposer" ("to deposit") and states that the item had been locally registered (at a civil court or such in the region in which the manufacturer resided).

Such registrations were common between 1840 and 1875.
