We make stamps and we don't care who knows!
One day when I was paying rent for my place in college I discovered a small rubber stamp-making operation in Athens, Ohio - 100 Proof Press. I walked up a wooden staircase, each step with a different image pressed upon it. At the time I obsessively making and sending cards to my boyfriend from high school (later to become husband) who was attending a different university - and I was always on the look out for cool stamps. Did I accidentally stumble upon a JACKPOT of really unique stamps and a new job? The answer is yes, yes I did.
I handed over my rent check and started working at 100 Proof Press until I graduated, my sisters also worked there making the stamps for the next four years. We always joked about taking over the company. And a few years later, thanks to a facebook offer, I convinced my family that 100 Proof Press would be a great family venture - my father a retiring chemical engineer, my husband a teacher who has summers off, me with 4 little kids at home, and my sisters stopping by from time to time to help out it seemed like a pretty good plan. So here I am, running this crafty company a block away from my house with my family and more support than anyone could hope for trying to make a go of this 100 Proof Press thing.
