I’m Angela--an eco-friendly graphic and website designer who started my own design business in 2005. Ten years later I closed my doors for business and decided to get out from behind the computer. I was suffering from postpartum depression after the birth of my first child and needed to be outside, working with the soil and doing something that felt more tangible to me.

We started growing our own food on a .67-acre plot and later moved to a six-acre historic farm built in 1775. We now have ducks and geese for eggs, draft horses, two honey hives, vegetable plots and an orchard. We are as self-sustaining as we can be and craft as many homegrown or home-created items as we can. It is our goal to pass these skills and values onto our children and to strive for a simpler lifestyle.

Axe & Root Homestead is a six-acre homestead based in New Jersey. What started as a family initiative to grow our own produce has turned into a small farm with ducks and geese for eggs, two honey hives, draft horses, vegetable plots and an orchard.
