About

The 1840 Farm Mercantile Shop on Etsy

Over a decade ago, three generations of my family made the life changing decision to move from our home in Kansas to the Seacoast of New Hampshire. A few years later, we purchased what was then an abandoned farm and began the difficult work of bringing it back to life. It’s no coincidence that it is located a mere 100 miles from the dairy farm that my great grandparents proudly called home.

We began to offer our products for sale in 2011 in order to help support our farm financially. We never imagined that doing so would also support our family on a much deeper level.

When our customers tell us how much they love our products and look forward to reading about our farm, it reminds us that our journey is not limited to those of us physically living here at 1840 Farm. Instead, it is made richer by inviting all of them to take part in our daily adventures no matter where they might call home.

Interacting with the members of the 1840 Farm Community online on a daily basis only reinforces that belief. I love reading about their experiences as much as I enjoy sharing mine.

Over a decade ago, three generations of my family made the life changing decision to move to New Hampshire and purchase an abandoned farm that was built in the 1840s. Now I spend my days there living and writing at the intersection of family, food, and farming.

I hope that you will choose to invite one of our products to become a part of your daily life. I personally invite you to join the 1840 Farm Community on Facebook to read a daily update of my family's adventures living at 1840 Farm at http://www.facebook.com/1840Farm.
