Living My Dream

I have always loved to draw since I was in the first grade. When I reached middle school I couldn't wait to learn how to sew. Since then I have never stopped. It all started when I opened a small shop selling baby snow suits made out of soft fleece for my daughter. I wanted something different that expressed my individuality. I was always hoping to start a family business. My son recommended handbags since I started designing small wristlets and began getting lots of request for them.
Fast forward my 5 yr old daughter encouraged me to sell my bags. She was even sketching handbag designs in her little notebook and was so excited to be a part of the design process. In March 2009 I opened my Etsy shop, and 2chicdesigns was launched. I remember trying to upload my photos and didn't understand how to get them off of the camera. My son instructed me how to upload my pictures and is always encouraging me to learn and be self sufficient. I have learned so much about this process from marketing, photography, and blogging.
I am inspired by colorful and unique fabrics designs. I usually study fashion and color trends, when I'm designing a collection. It starts with a sketch, then the fabric selection, and the shape of the bag that brings it to life. I also do customize pieces and enjoy working with brides and their wedding parties.
I am so grateful for Etsy and I love my wonderful customers. I sew each bag and try to provide Stellar customer service.
My most rewarding experience came when Huffington post included my shop in top Black Etsy Entrepreneur Featured for three consecutive years during the Christmas Holidays. Also being featured in other blogs.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know me and my back story. I appreciate Etsy helping me to dream big!
How Chic!
