A Journey in the Making
Welcome to my Etsy Shop, 3k Orbit. My name is Chris and I got my start with digital art in my early teens, thanks to a supportive family and a bit of good luck. In the years since I’ve expanded my skillsets to include 3D Animation, Motion Graphics and of course all forms of printed media. I even worked at a print shop for a couple years, leading me to gain a much better grasp as the production side of sign and poster creation.
Nowadays I work as Senior Graphic Designer for a medium sized Digital Marketing Agency. But the work I produce here is how I let off steam and work on the projects that make me happy. As you’ll notice, a lot of them have pretty nerdy backgrounds!
Usually when I start on a design there’s about a few weeks of preparation, from both the data collection sense and the actual layout of the design. The majority of the designs I produce on 3K Orbit are for ‘public consumption’ in that the artwork tells a story in both the content and the design itself. Because like all of us, I enjoy a good nerdy piece of art, but as we get older how can we justify mounting a Star Wars piece, or a Game of Throne’s piece in our home? The answer I believe is to take a serious approach to the artwork and provide more than just a flash of color, but real information that can be looked as a guide, infographic or otherwise conversational piece; like a coffee table book.
Once production on the artwork begins it can take anywhere form a week to upwards of a month to finish. Depending on the complexity and my own free time. After that I post it online and present it to the public! You can always check on my production blog for updates or clues to future work.
