From Inspiration to Manifestation
From the age of seven I was collecting rocks where we lived in the Chihuahuan Desert in El Paso, Texas. Not only did I collect them, I painted them, and tried to sell them with a little cash register outside of our apartment. As a teenager I was always looking for the perfect pair of earrings to express my rock n roll spirit. As I got older, I developed more of an interest in crystals and their metaphysical properties and I began to make my own earrings. Before I knew it, people were complimenting my earrings and asking if I could make some for them, too. So, of course I did it. For the past several years I have been asked by many different people, "Are you on Etsy?", or "Do you have an Etsy shop?" So... here I am, taking a stab at turning rocks into something beautiful again and hoping people will like what I make enough to purchase it for themselves or as a gift for someone special.
My passion is creating things out of Art Clay Silver, which becomes 99.9% pure silver once it's fired. I love to experiment with different ways of creating pieces, but my free form, rustic pieces are really my favorites to make. This is when the spirit of creativity comes alive for me as each piece becomes what it was meant to be. I may start out thinking I'm going to make one thing, and the clay sort of takes on a life of it's own and becomes something completely different.
Since my daughter has a nickel allergy, I was on a mission to find something she could wear that wouldn't irritate her ears. I have since learned that some surgical steel and sterling silver has traces of nickel in it. I do have surgical steel ear wires I can use, if you prefer surgical steel instead of sterling silver. For those with nickel allergies, I have some nickel free ear wires that I will use specifically for you, if requested. Just let me know ahead of time and I will either switch them for you free of charge or make a new pair.
That's just a little about what got me started, the rest of what I make emerged from listening to what people wanted and attempting to bring it to fruition. I really do like working with others to create something that is meaningful to them and will resonate with their spirit.
