42 designs is my design journey to answer the ultimate question. And what is the ultimate question, you ask? Well, that is the journey; no doubt. And if you get that, then you get me.
I can't remember the first time I handcrafted something. Dreamed it up in my head, and created it. Creations of all kinds. Things. In the summer when my friends would go to camp, I would go to my grandparents. My grandmother taught me to sew, to paint, to craft, to create, to dream up all the things that I could make. The artist in me took flight!
Some of my creations I would keep; others I would give away. My family and friends know this all too well - Christmas, birthdays and special events deliver the next creation. Revealing when the artist in me got out and created. It is from this basis that 42 designs was born.
Each piece in my collection is hand crafted by me. From concept to creation; this is my own. I use only beads that I believe to be of good quality; that I would wear myself. With these high standards, I choose semi-precious beads, quartz and limestone, lamp worked glass and Czech crystal. Funky one-of-a-kind glass and crystal beads along with vintage baubles make my creations beautiful and unique. The metals are sterling silver, brass or pewter. Any plastic beads are a re-use of vintage beads that I have collected in the journey. The ’42’ hang tag is hand-stamped, vintage brass.
Today, I am a cube dweller with a secret life. Project manager by day; designer by night. World traveler across 25 countries and 5 continents, with a bucket list for many more. An avid collector of moments and memories, believing that there is something to be learned from everyone and every thing encountered. I weave these things into my creations. Life is about the journey; not the destination.
