Announcement    Selling handpicked vintage clothing and accessories, I’m based in London and have been selling on Etsy since 2011. New listings every week and I also trade in person at Frock Me Vintage fair!

Update- I'm afraid I've had to remove international shipping to many destinations (including Europe) due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic & Brexit. The Royal Mail are advising that deliveries may be delayed to all destinations due to a reduction of postal workers and depot staff at this time. There are also ongoing postal strikes within the UK.

Shipping

*As stated on the listings all sunglasses are posted standard delivery which does not include a tracking number

*All clothing items are shipped recorded delivery and will have a tracking number. Please ensure that you have your correct address within both paypal and etsy before placing an order. All orders need to be shipped to the address provided within paypal in order to comply with paypals buyer and seller protection policy.

*IMPORTANT I am based within the UK, i post all orders within the UK first class recorded, however international delivery times can be very variable due to the customs/ postal services within each individual country. Typically international orders take anything from 2-6 weeks depending upon the destination country.

*International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders that are shipped to countries outside of the UK may be subject to import taxes, customs duties and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by the recipient; I have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond the original delivery estimates. No refunds will be given on packages that come back to the seller for failure to pay customs duties / taxes on the part of the buyer.

Frequently asked questions

How long does international delivery take?

The Royal Mail estimate that international delivery takes approx 10 working days, however this varies from country to country and it can take longer at busy periods or if the are delays at customs.

Is there a way to guarantee that an international package will arrive by a certain date?

Unfortunately not, no postal service offers a guarantee of international packages arriving within a set timeframe. In order to do this the postal service would need to handle the package at every step of it's journey, however the package will need to go through customs and security checks at borders and these are carried out by government departments rather than the postal service. Parcelforce allegedly offer a '48 hour' international service, but they make very clear in their terms and conditions that they are not responsible for any delays at borders and this is where the majority of the delays occur. There are a lot of angry reviews online for this service and so i would not feel confident adding it onto my listings as an option.

Do you have a physical shop i can visit to try on items?

Unfortunately not, i do just sell online. I occasionally trade at Vintage fairs in London and i post information about these ahead of time on my social media pages.

Do you offer coupon codes?

I rarely run sales or money off promotions, this is a personal decision based on the fact that i used to work in merchandising for a British high street chain. One of the key parts of my job was actioning and analyzing markdowns and promotions. I feel that the endless cycle of fast fashion and markdowns is unsustainable (both for the companies and for our environment) i always aim to source pieces i genuinely love and would wear for my store and to avoid pieces that only have a limited shelf life.

Do you offer holds/ reserves?

I'm afraid i do not. Reserves are quite tricky on etsy, although some sellers do it the terms and conditions of the site state that all listings need to be for sale so technically they are breaking the rules. I've looked into the option of taking non refundable deposits for items, but again this would be against etsy (and paypals!) t's & c's. Each payment needs to be for a specific order, so for two payments i would need to post off two separate orders or face a chargeback. There's also another issue around search placement and traffic on the site which i wont go into (due to space and the fact that it is quite long winded!)

Why is postage not free?

Postage is never free! Large websites combine the postage into their margin in order to offer 'free postage'. I always add postage separately so that customers can clearly see what they are paying for postage upfront. The postage price differs depending upon the buyers location and as etsy is an international site most of my sales are to overseas! If i did decide to incorporate postage into my item prices then any customer who purchased two items would be overpaying on postage and the biggest increase would be for international customers who purchased multiple items. I do not feel that this would be good value for customers which is why i choose to show the postage price separately and offer combined postage for multiple items.

What size is the person in the photos?

I always add item measurements to all my listings and i strongly urge customers to check these measurements against a similar garment to see how an item would fit. After spending more than 10 years photographing items on myself i can conclude that it's very difficult to see how an item fits from a static photo. I am wearing every item in the store (out of necessity as i am a sole trader!) However this does not mean that all items are my size or the same size.

What size is this item?

Vintage sizing is tricky and it varies greatly from modern day sizing. This is why i always add measurements for each item so that customers can check whether an item will work for them before ordering by comparing the measurements to a similar garment (i.e. compare a coat to another coat, a dress to another dress).

I use inches as all sizing is graded in inches, however if you would like these measurements in cms you can easily convert them via google.

Sizing is also quite subjective and many items are intended to be worn by more than one size (i.e. a loose cardigan, a kimono, a tent dress) in these cases it is best for each customer to decide whether the item will work for them by comparing against similar items they enjoy wearing.
