The 901 Process
Hi, I’m Kristina, the creator behind 901 Collective—a shop born out of my lifelong love for art, creativity, and self-expression. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been experimenting with arts and crafts, from painting and jewelry-making to clay sculpting, graphic design, and even DIY home renovations. Although my career as a Nurse Practitioner has been incredibly rewarding, designing and creating have always felt like my true passion.
The name “901 Collective” reflects both my roots and my eclectic style. I’m based in Memphis, TN (area code 901), and I chose "Collective" because it encompasses the wide variety of things I love to create—whether it’s bold apparel, unique home goods, or custom gifts. I’ve also got big plans to develop a line of 901 and Memphis-inspired designs to celebrate the vibrant community I call home.
As a mom to two beautiful daughters (ages 5 and 3), life is full of music, dance, and glitter! My oldest is a competitive dancer, which has inspired some of my favorite collections—especially my dance mom designs and my recent Alice in Wonderland-themed merch for her dance company. My husband, a firefighter/paramedic, and I also have a deep appreciation for the medical community, which sometimes finds its way into my work.
Before diving into healthcare, I worked in promotional advertising, where I learned graphic design and had hands-on experience with some of the first direct-to-garment printing machines. I’ve also been a musician for the majority of my life—playing piano since age 5 and percussion since 14. From marching band to jazz ensembles to traveling with my drum corps crew and jamming on stage with fellow local musicians, music has been a huge part of my creative journey and continues to inspire me.
At 901 Collective, my mission is to create bold, custom designs that let you express yourself freely—without fear or judgment. Whether it’s a graffiti-inspired graphic tee, a cozy throw pillow, or a one-of-a-kind piece of wall art, I hope my creations bring a little joy and personality into your life. Creativity and individuality are at the heart of everything I do, and I believe there’s no need to fit into just one box. Love minimalism and graffiti? Neutral tones and neon brights? You can have it all—because art should be as multifaceted as the people who enjoy it.
I approach each design with care and curiosity, often jotting down ideas in the middle of the night or finding inspiration from unexpected places. I partner with trusted print shops to ensure high-quality products while focusing on what I love most—designing! Every item is custom-designed and personally refined by me, and I test every product to ensure it meets my standards. All items are made to order which helps the environment by significantly reducing textile waste, as manufacturers only produce items once a customer places an order, eliminating the need to mass-produce large quantities of clothing that might not sell, thus minimizing resource usage and the associated environmental impact throughout the production cycle.
Starting 901 Collective has been an incredible journey, and I’ll never forget the excitement of making my first organic sale—no ads, just someone finding and loving my work. My dream is to grow this into a full-time business, expand into in-person markets and events, and continue creating items that resonate with people from all walks of life.
