GoodStuff
I started "picking" long before the American Pickers made the word popular. We moved around so much while growing up and I continued moving for family and work; all this moving prevented me from any serious collecting. There was still nothing better than rummaging through grandma's boxes in the attic and then getting her to tell me all about the Stuff I had picked out. Junk yards were another favorite place for wandering around in giving me time to imagine what roads each broken down vehicle might have traveled down. So I love the history of Stuff.
My "career" work background was communication and industrial electronics. Here is where I got to fix Stuff. Nothing better than hands on. I traveled extensively throughout the states for work. I started collecting beads. They didn't take up much room and I could do some creative crafting.
I finally retired and I was set free.
The word GoodStuff came from watching the Gong Show in the 70s. Chuck Barris would always come out and say "I got some really good STUFF for you today." It stuck with me.
I started going to Estate sales looking for furniture for my house. I always seemed to come home with boxes of smalls. Frank from the American Pickers also made that word popular.
I think some of the best decorating is when some old is mixed with some new. But, one can have too much on display. So what do I do with all this GoodStuff I have found.
My shop is born. So this is what I bring to you. My favorite eras are the great Victorian and Art Deco eras. I love the flow that these eras created. I see and feel the history in each piece I find. Some are very tough to sell. I will put them in my house for a while until I find the next piece to replace it.
As my shop has evolved and my skills improve, I have taken some of the items I have found and cleaned them up or refurbished them. I have found that many people love the old good stuff but would like it to look a bit cleaner or would like to use it. I am slowly adding those items to my store inventory.
I also have added some handmade items made by myself or members in my shop.
Please enjoy browsing through my inventory. I hope you find something that brings back an old memory or maybe creates a new vision for you.
