Gran parte de mi trabajo como tejedora de tapices ha sido a gran escala y en los últimos diez años más o menos, he presentado alambre de púas como parte integral del diseño y tejido.

Desde que trabajé con alambre y metal, he cambiado mi enfoque para diseñar para el tejido de tapices. Donde antes pasaba mucho tiempo dibujando sobre papel a lápiz, carbón y pastel, ahora me gusta "dibujar" y experimentar en el tejido en sí y desarrollar mis ideas de diseño en el camino.

Algunas de mis obras más pequeñas las he considerado como notas mentales o como a veces se han titulado, "Me(n)tal Notes"

Actualmente estoy experimentando con el tejido y el audio interactivo con áreas de los tapices sensibles al tacto o la proximidad. Much of my work as a tapestry weaver has been on a large scale and in the last ten years or so, have featured barbed wire as an integral part of the design and weave.

Since working with wire and metal, I have changed my approach to designing for tapestry weaving. Where once I spent a lot of time drawing on paper in pencil, charcoal and pastel, now I like to "draw" and experiment in the weaving itself and develop my design ideas along the way.

Some of my smaller works I have thought of as mental notes or as they have sometimes been titled, "Me(n)tal Notes"

Currently I am experimenting with weaving and interactive audio with areas of the tapestries being sensitive to touch or proximity. When activated, these areas play different sound clips over and above a background soundscape. To see an example visit alastair-duncan.com/sound-and-weave
