Making It By Hand
I never really had anything that I enjoyed doing as a hobby. Until....... I was trying to recreate a pair of earrings that I could no longer find in the store that I had gifted to my younger sister over the holidays in 2010. That process started my entire journey from finding materials to use to developing my very own techniques with making jewelry. Before I knew it I was hooked. I had so many different types of earrings and my focus changed from recreating to making something I could call my own. A coworker of mine told me about ETSY and I started selling my handmade creations here.
Making has been a journey for me because I was not trained in this art form. I poured hours into resarching different jewerly making techiques and perfecting them to my own. Ask anyone how hard it is to wash resin off your entire hands!!! It not only leads to late night store trips for adhesive remover but made me want to learn how to tame the liquid as well. Now majority of my pieces contain resin. I learned how to use a laser printer and how to solder precious metal on my own as well and improved my skills by going to local workshops.
I love to incompass an art aspect when creating my jewerly by using many different materials wood being my favorite right now, colors and media.
I thought that I would stick to studs however crafting and being creative have me venturing out from time to time.
I came to the name "Holey Moley" because it was fitting for my stud earrings. I wanted people to be as excited about my product as I was! Holey Moley was taken and therefore I had to add A and Lyfe (my daughters middle name).
I am looking forward to a bright future for Holey Moley with an ultimate goal of turning this into a fulltime day job. I will probably still work mostly at night because I love the night and all it's quietness and take pictures during the day when the light is good. Hoping to bring new items your way as I embark on this journey.
Warmest,
Tori
