Hi, I’m Sharon — the quilter, designer, and occasional house-space negotiator behind A Quiet Patch. I create easy traditional quilt patterns with clear step-by-step instructions, often using fast piecing techniques so you can spend more time enjoying the process and less time stressing over the details. Most patterns include multiple sizes, from throw to king, and every design is professionally tech edited for accuracy.
My quilting journey started in the early ’90s, thanks to my mother and grandmother, who taught me a love of making things by hand. My first quilts were… well, let’s say “charmingly imperfect” — stitched on a sewing machine perched on a piano stool and cut wherever I could find space. Over the years, quilting became my favourite way to unwind, and eventually, my creative focus.
In 2020, I decided it was time to turn my passion into something bigger. With a background in maths, computers, and coding, I found designing quilt patterns came naturally. After learning Illustrator and InDesign and taking a pattern-writing course, I was ready to share my designs with the world.
Now, my lounge room is my quilting headquarters (and the rest of the house is slowly following). At A Quiet Patch, you’ll find patterns made with love, tested for accuracy, and ready to help you create beautiful quilts — no matter how busy life gets.
