Nearly thirty years of sewing and it still never gets old!
I have been sewing for nearly thirty years, since my grandmother started teaching me at the age of seven. Even as a kid, I was obsessed with sewing and the freedom it offered to create anything I could imagine. The first dress I designed was for my mother on Mother's Day. Bless her heart, she wore that dress out in public that day (sorry about that one, Mom. You’re a trooper).
I began designing my own clothes in junior high before moving on to bigger projects like prom dresses in high school. After that, I began sewing baby and toddler clothing for an online retail store but took a break in 2010 to focus on school.
After grad school, when I could finally breathe again, I slowly got back into sewing. Initially, I was sewing minor things like merit badges and patches for my son's Scout friends or mending things here and there around the house. In late 2022, I was part of the notorious tech/data layoffs. Since then, as I have been applying for the same jobs that thousands of others are vying for, I have poured myself back into sewing.
For me it's cathartic. I enjoy mixing fabrics, patterns, and colors. I prefer unique and funky styles that stand out rather than seamlessly fitting in with all of the others (pun totally intended).
I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy creating them!
