Inspired by becoming a father
In the months leading up to the birth of my first born son, Drew (in 2012) I was taken with desire to finally become the man and father I always wanted to be for my children. Amongst other things, this drive pushed to me to actually put my hand to completing many of the un-finished design ideas floating around in my head. Foremost in the list was the need to create heirloom products that I would carry everyday and my children would begin to associate with "dad." I wanted a leather journal that I could carry for the next 30 years and a cool pen that would go with it and last just as long. I wanted a briefcase to keep forever and pass on to my kids and grandkids.
Out of these desires, ATELEIA Craft+Design was born. The first products were the slim wallet, leather journal, and brass pen. I am slowly adding to the product listing as time goes on. All leather products are made by hand, by me, in my "mancave" attached to the back of our house in downtown Phoenix. The pen parts are machined by a CNC shop in Tempe, AZ - but also hand-finished and assembled by me at home.
