About

Short & Sweet

Ever since I was little, I've loved to make things with my hands. This started out as drawings and paintings, and then lead to majoring in Graphic Design in college. After a few years in the real world, my husband and I (and our cat, Yoshimi) packed up and moved to Portland to be surrounded by music, nature, and amazingly creative people.

The Pacific Northwest immediately began to inspire my artwork. I started creating collage work with found papers & botanical drawings under the name A Tea Leaf. I also got interested in the idea of making my art/designs wearable and began learning about jewelry making. I found that jewelry allowed me to explore art from a whole new perspective. I was addicted!

Today, A Tea Leaf jewelry is still inspired by nature and exploring the Pacific Northwest as well as vintage touches. It all happens from A Tea Leaf HQ (my apartment).

Q & A

Who are you and what do you do?
A Tea Leaf is modern jewelry. My latest line is a set of necklaces and earrings that I create with laser-cut geometric brass designs. I'm also inspired by taking vintage beads and combining them with my hand-drawn illustrations to make necklaces and earrings with a modern twist.

What do your customers love most about your products?
A great thing about A Tea Leaf is that I'm able to make modern jewelry really affordable (and giftable) for people. I do a ton of research about current trends and have a huge variety of laser-cut pieces (geometric shapes, ginkgo leaves, Boston Terriers, cats, etc.) so there's something for everybody.

Any new exciting news you'd like to share with our readers?
One of my illustrations is going to be featured on the set of the new HBO show 'Big Little Lies' (starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Adam Scott)!

What do you love most about craft show vending?
I love being out there meeting new people and learning about them up close and personal. I'm on the shy side so vending at shows gives me the opportunity to meet new people that I normally wouldn't. It's awesome to see people getting excited about jewelry the same way I do!

Returns and exchanges
Returns are not accepted. I do my best to accurately represent my items in photos and descriptions. Exchanges within 14 days of receipt for an UNWORN item of equal or lesser value are possible if the item for some reason does not meet your expectations. After this time, exchanges cannot be honored. Prior notification is required (please contact me via convo). Items that are returned without prior contact cannot be exchanged.

Please note that returns are not accepted for reasons related to customs fees, shipping times, or other stated policies and descriptions.
Shipping
I ship USPS First Class mail. Orders are shipped from 3-5 business days (Mon-Fri). There will be no receipt included in the package unless requested. I will send you a message letting you know your purchase is on its way!

International orders will be shipped First Class International. Note that buyers are responsible for any additional charges incurred. Please know your country's custom fees and taxes when purchasing internationally.

If you have any special requests please convo me before you place your order, or as soon as possible. I cannot honor requests that were not discussed before you placed your order.

Domestic (US) orders shipped via First Class can arrive within a few days or even longer than a week. International First Class packages can take anywhere from a week to several weeks (and over a month or even two) to arrive. Packages are frequently delayed at customs which is unfortunately random and out of my control, which causes delays of delivery. Please note that everything takes longer to receive during the holidays (November-December), so shipping times are even longer.

Please make sure that your ETSY MAILING ADDRESS is correct. I do not look at your address on Paypal, only Etsy. If your address is incorrect, packages cannot be resent unless paid for again by you.

To keep our postage costs down, the shipping cost do not include insurance. If you would like faster or insured shipping, please convo me for details and shipping quotes.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

Be gentle and handle with love! Remove jewelry before showering or swimming. Avoid contact with moisture: water, excess humidity, and oils: lotion, hairspray, and perfume. Tarnish occurs naturally and metal reacts differently from person to person. Some body oils make the metal oxidize faster than others. To prolong oxidation of the metal, store jewelry in a cool and dry place.
