Hello! My name is Mai Kou, and I am the creator behind MYKOOSTUDIO and av1unitedstories. Join me as I share my journey from being a small fangirl to a small business owner.

Ever since I was a kid, I loved recording with my dad’s video camera and playing with my imagination. Growing up with families watching from Thai drama to Chinese drama, I realized I loved the filming industry as I grew older into my teens. I planned to enter college after high school for my film degree, but unfortunately, life doesn’t always go as planned. The only way to get close to my dreams was to write stories to fulfill my happiness. This was the time I entered into the K-POP world.

DBSK is the first KPOP group I followed, and since then, I’ve been a KPOP fan of many other idols, and BTS is one of them.

In 2015, I started posting fanfiction stories on KPOP fanfiction websites and Instagram. One day, I landed upon a video on YouTube of a BTS Fanfiction video, and that’s when it all started.

The birth of AV1UNITED.

The meaning behind Av1united is simple: it means Everyone United. I love to share good, positive vibes with the world through my stories. I am happy to hear from many people that my stories make their day more enjoyable and make them look forward to Sunday. Because I posted videos on Sunday.

Since 2016, I have been writing, editing, and posting KPOP fan fiction videos on my YouTube channel. Before I knew it, I had grown a family there. My readers called themselves “United’s Fam.”

As time passed, I wanted to expand. I’m always the type that loves to challenge myself to do the impossible. Opening a shop has been on my to-do list for the longest time. I wanted to open a shop filled with K-POP subtle merch and my art.
After many months of blood, sweat, and tears, I finally opened my shop. I named the shop after my YouTube name, AV1UNITED, as I wanted everyone to know who I was. After opening my shop for three years, I decided to change my shop’s name.

AV1UNITED was created from my stories, and I wanted the name to be known for my stories. It was a difficult decision, but I believe it is the right choice.

I aimed to create a name for my shop that reflects my identity as a small business owner. After many months, I decided on MYKOOSTUDIO. My boyfriend was the one who suggested this name.

“MYKOO” is an easier way to read and say my name, Mai Kou. I added “Studio” because, like many small businesses, my small business is a corner of my room.

I am excited to grow with MYKOOSTUDIO, and I can’t wait to show many creations to all my customers.
