Folk & Whimsy by A Wing And A Prayer
I have been Creating Dolls for 28 years now. I sew, paint, sculpt and do a bit of soldered jewelry, all with a touch of Folk and Whimsy. I have a love for fabrics and I learned to Sew very early in life. I started making baby cloths for my little boy and from there I started creating Dolls. Once I started, I just couldn't stop. From painting of their little faces with personality, to finding the perfect fabric for their little frocks, it is a true joy to me. I began with cloth dolls and soon moved on to Paper Clay sculpting. I started doing Art & Craft shows at near by venues and couldn't believe people were buying my work.
I am thrilled with every piece that I ship off to their new home. From the first to the last, the feeling is the same, I'm happy I made someone smile.
My most favorite things to create are my Soft Sculpture Santa dolls and Paper Clay dolls. These days I make One Of A Kinds (OOAK) each piece I create have their own personality, a twinkle in their eye and hint of Whimsy.
And when I was asked to submit my work to Prims Magazine to be published, I was never more thrilled and honored to have my work recognized. Something I will cherish forever.
I am inspired by all thing Primitive and Shabby White chippy paint and really anything timeworn...Tattered quilts, vintage christening dresses, olde bobbins, olde doll furniture, and vintage doll cloths. I love it all and love to incorporate these things into what I create.
And I feel blessed to be able to do this for a living, all these years, all On A Wing And A Prayer.
