I've traveled with my parents from a young age and always took an interest in antique and vintage items from different cultures. It must be genetic because my mom was a lawyer for 35 years and decided in 2001 to put that career on the back burner and become a real bonafide antique dealer. She's always loved going to antique markets, even when it was just a hobby. So when her friends kept asking her where she got something and would she buy them something on her next trip, she thought to herself, "Hey, I love this, why not turn it into a business?" So that's what she did, and I've been fortunate enough to go on many buying trips with her and learn the ropes over the years. Now I live in France so I have constant access to amazing things and can get to markets of all shapes and sizes. And as of January 1, 2015, after a seemingly endless paperwork-filled process, I am finally licensed to own and operate a business in France.
