Hello I’m Carly, the owner of Absolute Mug®. The full range of unique mugs on this site have all been designed exclusively by me and each one is lovingly made and dispatched from Bideford, Devon.
Since I was young I have always loved design, and knew that was what I wanted to do, starting my first full-time job as a web designer in 2006.
My husband and I had our first child in 2010, unfortunately there were complications and our baby boy soon became diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I tried to continue to work part time, but it was just too difficult to give him the care he needed and work at the same time. My second son was born in 2013 and my daughter in 2017 so my hands were well and truly full!
A year after my daughter was born I decided I needed a new challenge - one that wasn’t nappy or feed-related. So when both boys were at school full time I decided to start Absolute Mug. I haven’t looked back since.
It had always been my dream to start my own business and create something that would bring people together. Personally, I love to see someone’s reaction when they first open their mug. When I began receiving messages to say that something I had created had brought people to tears, I knew my dream had become a reality. Happy tears are pretty special.
