Absynia is a lifestyle brand offering consumers a chance to move away from the mass produced fashion's of today that all look the same. Fueled by a global aesthetic, Absynia carries only handmade, artisan jewelry and unique vintage items.
Behind the designs, the photos, and all things Absynia is me, Elle Lewis.My designs are influenced heavily by the African diaspora and the cultures within. Using wood, precious stone, metal,shell and other earthy materials, I aim to bring the unexplored to the wearer.
I have been designing jewelry and creating since first learning about the high cost of cheap, imported fashion. After becoming aware of the prevalence of worker abuse and child labor in factories overseas, I became concerned with the role I played in this global market and where money was going and her things coming from. Absynia was created from this concern and continues to expand around the concept of returning to handmade, to quality and the kind of transaction where the consumer would know the hands that crafted their purchases.
Today, Absynia caters to men and women who express themselves and their values through their fashion and company choices. Because of their high expectations and standards, Absynia is always evolving, reaching out to new artisans and mining local cultural events and stores for new, interesting materials.
