The Language of the Seasons: Handcrafted Botanical Artwork
Every petal and leaf tells a quiet story. As the seasons turn through the Norfolk countryside, I find myself inspired by nature's rhythm. From wild roses peeking through sun-dappled hedgerows along quiet country lanes to the delicate perfume of sweet peas climbing summer walls
My creative journey always begins simply, with pencil on paper. Once the drawing feels right, I transfer the design onto a lino block and carve it by hand in my studio shed. The traditional art of linocut creates a distinctive tactile soul, organic lines, rich textures, and subtle variations that can only come from a hand-carved block.
To bring these carved designs to life, I combine heritage technique with modern digital precision. After I take a hand-pulled test print of the block, I carefully digitise the artwork, thoughtfully adding layers of colour that mirror the changing mood of each season. This hybrid approach lets me preserve the authentic, tactile character of linocut while exploring rich, nuanced colour palettes across my collections.
Every fine art print, luxury card, and stationery item is then printed and finished in-house in small batches using FSC-certified, acid-free recycled cardstock. By managing the entire printing process right here in the studio, I ensure every single piece meets the highest standard of craft and environmental care.
Each botanical design carries forward the age-old tradition of floral symbolism, where blooms speak a quiet language of joy, comfort, celebration, and remembrance.
