A few cats and a bunch of yarn
Several years ago I needed a name for an avatar in a game, and Camilla was of course already taken. So was my middle name Agathe and a few other nicknames I was used to being called. I started being a little more creative, but just about anything I came up with someone else had thought of as well. Aggai was the first one I found that I could use, and at that point I was just happy to have found a name! After a while that name started to be me, or me in the world of dreams where everything was possible. Today this world have become my place for creativity, a place where yarn and my three playful cats decides what happens next.
I love cats. It's now close to fifteen years since the first one came into my life, and life haven't been the same since. They are also the reason I became a vegetarian. One day I just realized that I couldn't go on eating meat, knowing that this meant an animal had lost its life. Even if it was an animal I had never met and got to love like my cats, it still ended up filling me with sadness. Since I don't like being sad I decided to become a vegetarian instead.
I started researching the web to basically find out what to eat, and during my research I discovered a few things about animal welfare in regards to the manufacturing of yarn. One of the things was mulesing, a painful and cruel procedure that is done to sheep in some contries. Another was how some manufactures harvest the fur that is used to make angora. There are a lot of good people out there that are kind to their animals, but there are even more that isn't and choose the shortest way to make money. As a consumer it was next to impossible to know exactly where my yarn came from. So what to do? My solution in this case was to start experimenting with yarn based on plant materials instead of wool.
This again became the main idea with this store. Make beautiful things without harming any animals in the process.
