Announcement    Hi there! I’m Alex, a metalsmith, jeweler, and graphic designer of Al The Rebel Metalwork. I create “Kinky and Frisky Jewelry for the Risky” with the understanding that it is risky to take ownership of one’s pleasure. My work is a humorous yet elegantly subtle examination of the ways I take risks in art, adventure, and intimacy to create my own authentic pleasure. The awkwardness of vulnerability and the curiosity of exploring sources of bliss inspire my design decisions. Many things in the world of indulgence are interpreted as taboos. Using a comedic lens allows a playful exploration of these topics, especially since humor is a source of pleasure. From how I depict “sensitive” images subtly to the names I give my pieces, my aim is to convey a sense of authentic pleasure and acceptance of the raw bodies we all have rather than overt sexuality or political statements. It’s not about politics, it’s just about pleasure. Al the Rebel Jewelry is a reminder that you control yourself and your pleasure, while emphasizing what is actually valuable in life: the freedom to unapologetically embody your authentic pleasure.
