Back to the Craft: A Return to Handmade Roots
Alabaster Leatherworks began with a simple love for working with my hands — cutting leather, stitching each piece by hand, and turning raw materials into something built to last.
For a time, life took me in a different direction. My wife and I started a food blog called Don’t Sweat the Recipe, and it grew faster than we ever expected. Recipes, photography, writing, and running the site became a full-time adventure, and leatherworking slowly took a back seat.
But the craft never really left me.
Now I’m back at the bench — blades sharpened, thread waxed, and hands back to work.
Every piece you’ll find here is made the way I believe handmade goods should be: slowly, carefully, and entirely by hand. No machine presses. No mass production. Just real leather, hand tools, and the kind of imperfections that give handmade work its character.
Many of my pieces are inspired by rugged field journals, weathered travel gear, and the timeless feel of something that already seems to have a story to tell.
