I love to create with my hands!
It all started with quilting scraps. I was locker hooking my fabric scraps and people wanted to know what in the world I was doing"?? Because of the overwhelming interest, in 1999, I ended up writing and self-publishing the first and most comprehensive book on locker hooking with fabric entitled, "Locker Hooking With Fabric Strips". It is a complete book for beginners to advanced. In 2009, I went "green" with ebooks & epatterns, as well as wrote a smaller instructional ebook for beginners entitled, "The Basics: Locker Hook A Mug Rug".
Locker hooking is "an old rug hooking technique" using a locker hook (a crochet hook with a large needle 'eye' on other end for yarn), latch hook rug canvas, yarn, and fabric strips. The locker hook is inserted into each square and the fabric strip is pulled up to the top of the canvas (making loops). When you have about 10 loops on the locker hook shaft, the locker hook and yarn (which is attached to the needle 'eye' end) are pulled through all the loops, which "lock the loops in place". It's very easy! And you can make beautiful and functional things like rugs, wall hangings, clothes, baskets, home and personal accessories! F or more information go to: www.lockerhooking.com
I also love to crochet and have designed and self-published several popular crochet epatterns. My Crochet Rag Rug Patterns are the most popular :-) But my favorite is crocheting with wool and felting them into beautiful bowls!
When my daughter had her first baby, I made an "Alaskan Stuffie" from fleece and they just kept multiplying! They are stuffed soft polar fleece crazy-eyed creatures with pockets for treasures and all have big hearts. They are for all ages! Everyone has been adopted!
I am also a CZT (Certified Zentangle® Teacher) and teach Zentangle® art classes in Anchorage, Alaska and online. In 2014, I was trained by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, founders of Zentangle®, in Providence, Rhode Island. The Zentangle® Method™ is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way of creating beautiful abstract art by drawing structured patterns (called tangles). There are many therapeutic benefits to this beautiful "meditative art"! I offer Tangle Alaska Tutorials from classes I have taught.
