Started from curiosity, then I fell in love.
I was that kid that always picked up rocks. My amazing collection was comprised of rocks you get at hardware stores as I would pick them up from "fancy" city squares and plazas. A lot of them were probably river stones and after further reading, the white beautiful ones were marble. I thought they looked fancy and felt so proud. Then I found some red, sponge-looking ones (also picked up from the neighborhood) that I thought were probably lava rocks (they were not, of course, but they looked cool!)
Let me fast-forward my enthusiasm for minerals >>> Mexico. My great-grandma passed away and apparently enjoyed the company of rocks too and I was able to claim a couple of them! My first encounter with GOLD! Upon further reading and experimenting, it was fools gold, ahem "pyrite". I felt great and kind of sad that I would probably not be able to get all these cool rocks listed on my book only found in certain states ... That's my mini origin story.
I've always loved rocks and minerals; there is just so much beauty in them. Many people don't see it and think "it's just a rock" but I feel so much more when I touch a crystal, when I see a stone and when I pick up a rock.
This is raw beauty with metaphysical capabilities in perfect little vessels. Highly ordered microscopic structures that you can hold in your hand, hang around your neck and keep around to share your space. This is not just a rock, remember that!
