Pillars:
"I paint to excite myself, and make something for myself."
-- Francis Bacon
Most clothing, jewelry, footwear, or really anything else I have created (a shelf, carrot cake), came to be because either I imagined something like it and could not find it, or wondered if I could simply make it myself. My techniques are mostly traditional (= fairly lo-tech) and generally labor intensive, which makes the process fun for me.
"You can't fake quality any more than you can fake a good meal."
-- William S. Burroughs, The Western Lands
Working intimately with the materials, quality is a must. Sustainable and Eco-friendly materials are high on the quality list.
"A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
-- Antoine De Saint-Exupery
Mainly, I appreciate the classic quality of simplicity coupled with fine materials.
