I am no Artist ... Just A Dreamer ...
I have dreamed most of my life ...
I dream of places and characters from a different time, a different world. As such, my work revolves around my many alternate worlds and my imaginary characters. I am also inspired by other dreamers and their worlds. I make pilgrimages to Middle Earth and pay homage to the Lady of Lothlorien, I fight alongside the Kings and Queens of Narnia, with skills I acquire from Hogwarts. But I am not only light, I am dark too ... for I delight in dancing with Shadowhunters and Immortals. And when I am ready ... I return, bringing with me the beauty, the stories and my adventures to my mundane world.
My process is organic, it is evolving all the time. Most of the time, I already have a story or a world playing inside my head, and that story would dictate the piece as it takes shape. Sometimes it is the other way round, I start off with something physical in my hand, perhaps a key … and then as I couple the key with other elements, a story would emerge in my mind. And then the story takes over from there and the piece evolves along with it.
Two main themes run in most of my work. First and foremost, Fantasy. And then, there is the element of Age. Somehow, I am drawn to the beauty of age and decay. For me, items that have been ravaged by time, are portals to a different world. A world that once was, a world perhaps before even I existed. I find aged items mysterious, layered and, queer as it may sound, romantic. They whisper stories in my ears, stories from beyond this world … stories that I yearn to be part of.
Perhaps one day, from my work, others will see what I see ... they will live, what I live ...
