Hello there, we're Katie, Peter and Poppy, two friends and a small ginger dog. We run our online clothing shop from a little room above a sweet shop by the River Lea in Bow, the thriving and vibrant heart of east London. We've been working together for over a decade, sourcing, designing and making beautiful things for festival pixies to wear and love.

We enjoy working with organic and natural fibres and creating fun, colourful garments for creative spirits.

Working with our small team of makers in Nepal, we source organic cotton and hemp from the foothills of the Himalayas and turn them into pieces that are a pleasure to wear, soft on the skin, well made and long-lasting.

We also work closely with small teams of artisans in the holy city of Pushkar in Rajasthan, India, where we also source lots of beautiful vintage fabrics for our one-off items.

Back in England, when we are not busy in the studio or the warehouse, we spend time on Katie’s little narrowboat Excalibur (#myboatexcalibur) and on our community garden. Katie makes psychedelic stained glass windows (@psyglasss) and Peter helps out at the local food bank.

Five years ago, a small wandering ginger dog, looking distressed and lost, was picked up on the towpath by our friend Simon. She had no collar and was all skin and bone, so we took her in and now she’s part of the Altshop famalam. We call her Poppie, SGD (Small Ginger Dog) or Poppie La of Bow, and she comes on all of our adventures.

You will more than likely find us trading at festivals or fayres with our stall all around the country, or keep up to date with us on Facebook or Instagram and, don’t forget, we love to keep everyone who buys from us happy, so we focus a lot of our efforts on customer service. If you buy from us but the garments are not suitable, please get in touch, we are very friendly and offer refunds on all our stock.
