Turning Retired Climbing Ropes Into Something Functional

Welcome to Always The Adventure, where we believe first ascents aren't necessarily the best ascents. Sometimes, the second go around is just as spectacular.

By day, my partner Chris and I ran a secondhand outdoor gear shop, which is where it all began. One day, we found ourselves asking, "How can we recycle one of the few things we simply can't resell for safety reasons?"

The rest is history. Since beginning our upcycle adventure (and boy has it been an adventure) in 2021, we've diverted over 50,000 meters of retired rope from landfills. Thanks for helping us keep that number growing.

We also believe in the power of small. Everything you see is made by either Chris or myself, from start to finished. We scrub the ropes by hand (sometimes more times than we can count), hand-make each item to order, and pack them up in primarily recycled boxes and shipping materials collected from our local community.
