Q: Returns and exchanges

Ready-To-Ship & Simple Leather Items: We allow returns & exchanges on ready-to-ship, non-personalized leather products to a US address. We do not refund shipping and charge a 10% restocking fee on each item. Items must be returned within 14 days and must arrive in their original condition. The customer is responsible for all return/exchange shipping & customs fees. Custom-made or Personalized Items: Custom items may not be exchanged or returned - these sales are final. Sale Items: No refunds or exchanges are accepted on reduced items - these sales are final. Exchanges & refunds are costly for our small team so we are totally committed to working with you to create exactly what you want before you place your final order!

Q: Care instructions

Leather conditioner and protector can be used to keep the leather in top condition. Spot test first. Choose a high-quality product for best results. We love www.leathermilk.com Huipil sections can be protected with a fabric protector. Sponge clean huipil with cool water if necessary. Simply snip any loose threads from huipil, do not pull. Snipping loose ends will not affect the integrity of the textile.

Q: Customs Duties & Taxes

Customs duties and taxes may be charged by your country upon arrival (excluding the USA). Amara Collective is not responsible for these fees and cannot determine how much they will be. These taxes are determined by the destination country and are not included in your shipping costs. All duties and taxes must be paid at the time of delivery. These fees are the responsibiliy of the customer and failure to pay them will result in your parcel being abandoned. Refusal to pay customs fees are not grounds for a refund. Each country's policies and fees are different and we cannot offer specific advice on the fees or policies of your country.

Q: Shipping Problems

We use a fully tracked service with DHL (and on occasion UPS) and we are not responsible for shipping delays, issues or lost parcels. Although we will do all we can to help you from this end, any postal issues must be sorted out directly with the shipping company and we are not able to replace lost parcels. If you would like insure your parcel before shipping please reach out and we will send you info on the price of insurance.

The word 'Amar' means 'to love' in Spanish and that verb is really the inspiration behind the name and mission of Amara. We craft exceptional products that you, our customer, will love and cherish for many years, whilst supporting the work of the incredible weavers and leather artisans that we partner with through fair pay and consistent, fulfilling work.

Shipping:

The majority of our products are made to order and ship directly from Guatemala. We offer worldwide, fully tracked shipping with DHL Express and UPS. There are no customs fees for shipments to the USA, but for customers outside of the USA customs duties and taxes should be expected. Please read our T&Cs and FAQs related to shipping and customs for more information.

The boots are very well made, they look exactly like what you see on the picture and are really handmade...not some scam of people drop shipping shoes from china (what I got caught into with another seller on ETSY). Becky took to time to consider my demands regarding the choice of the leather. Just like others, I recommend it warmly.

À truly amazing bag... Great leather, so many details, so incredibly well made, you can choose the colour, the size, the style, the pockets. Becky is super nice. It was also produced and delivered much faster than I expected. What an incredible moment to receive the package with the new treasure directly from Guatemala! Only the sizes are hard to guess, when you can't see the bag. I picked large, but it is really big. That is my fault though, I should have thought about it better. Thank for the beautiful bag!!!

I love these boots! So far they've worked in the office (relaxed one) and through woods and fields with the dogs. Orlando the shoe artist clearly made them to be comfortable and sturdy as well as beautiful. I can tell they'll not only hold up but improve with time. Also Becky was quick to answer a question. She shipped the package right after I ordered. This is my second order from Amara. Definitely recommend.

Each and every one of our products is crafted by hand here in Guatemala, using traditional artesanal techniques of weaving and leather work.

We partner with weaving cooperatives, who use the ancient art forms of back-strap and foot-loom weaving to build upon centuries of exquisite design through their collaboration with Amara.

We also work with two key leather artisans-turned-entrepreneurs who each head up small teams of skilled craftsmen and women...

Estuardo is a 27 year old expert bag maker who loves collaborating on new designs and techniques and who dreams of expanding his team

Orlando is a 33 year old master shoe maker whose passion is fair employment for his community and whose dream is to double the size of his team and expand the reach of their shoemaking services.

Amara is committed to helping them achieve their dreams and to preserving the ancient artisan techniques here in Guatemala. Each purchase you make helps us get a little closer to achieving those goals.
