Colorful and classic handmade children’s apparel and accessories
Hi, I’m Anna! I live in west Michigan with my husband and two little boys and personally design and create everything you can find in my namesake shop.
I learned to sew in grade school and have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, but I didn’t put the two together until my late 20's, when I decided to open an Etsy shop to fund my yarn and fabric buying habits.
After my first son was born, I was delighted to discover that I could make cute outfits for him. As a boy mom, it’s my mission to create cute, colorful, gender neutral options for special occasions or just everyday play. I also love being having an outlet to create twirly and sparkly girl outfits too :)
ABOUT THE SHOP
Each piece is handmade with love and care in my one woman home studio!
All baby and childrens wear is CPSC compliant, which means it meets all mandatory U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) safety standards.
I love using comfy, durable, breathable natural fibers as much as possible, and mainly work with premium quilting cotton (Rifle Paper Co is my fave designer!), cotton spandex, and bamboo blends.
Most of my pieces can be stain treated and laundered along with the rest of your household laundry. Don’t worry about letting your kiddos play and make messes, and enjoy their special outfits! Care instructions are included with each purchase.
I pre-wash and dry my fabric on medium heat so it is preshrunk and your items come ready to wear.
Handmade sizing can vary from store bought/ready to wear sizing. If your child has uneven proportions or you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me before you order and I can make a custom fit just for them based on their measurements. That’s the beauty of handmade!
WHY DOES IT COST SO MUCH?
Most off the rack clothing we find at stores is manufactured in foreign countries where labor is cheaper. Workers are underpaid, overworked, and there is a steep environmental cost to manufacturing low quality and synthetic materials that will be worn a couple times then thrown away. You can read more about the fast fashion industry here. https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/fashion-clothing/what-fast-fashion-why-it-problem
As a small business owner I pay myself a living wage, and do my best to source materials from as many fellow small family- or woman-owned businesses as I can. Most of my knit material is milled and printed in the USA, and I minimize waste as much as possible.
Additionally, I try to choose patterns that will fit as long as possible as your child grows!
You can always feel good about shopping small and handmade.
The end product you’re investing in from my shop is high quality and durable, sewn with love and the attention to detail, and designed to be enjoyed and passed down.
And I am extremely grateful for your support of my family and my dreams!
