Anne Borchardt's highly vibrant paintings, which seem to capture nature’s energy itself more than a visible form, are inspired by landscapes, plants and the human body. Emerging from everyday life, the motifs are put into gestural ink, oil and acrylic pieces. The painting process resembles very much a conversation, maybe even a confrontation. So the abstraction does not come out of an attitude, but reveals another aspect of the interaction, even tranquility in the middle of chaos because of a suddenly occurring balance.
I am self-taught, selling my pieces internationally since 2012. They can be found at private and corporate collectors throughout the world - primarily in the U.S., in most European countries, Canada, South Africa, Hong Kong, Thailand and Australia.
"Painting is a state of being. … Painting is self-discovery. Every good artist paints what he is."
(Jackson Pollock)

5 out of 5 starsHaving spent 3 years in Germany decades ago, this piece seems to me to be somewhat autobiographical for the artist, a commentary on how culture influences us. I now have several works by this artist and find them detailed, honest, and striking in statement.

5 out of 5 starsI think this piece may have a little direct self reference in it. This artist is quite good at having larger figures pop up, suddenly defining all other activity. This is one such piece.
