It took more than 50 years, but I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up!
I’ve loved photography ever since I received a Polaroid camera for Christmas when I was nine. As a sophomore in high school, I learned how to shoot with my first serious camera—a Pentax K-1000. My best friend taught me the basics and I’ve been telling stories with photographs ever since.
Fast forward more than three decades, and I have a collection of cameras, multiple camera bags, and miscellaneous gear stashed around the house. I figured it was finally time for me to do something serious with all of it.
Above and beyond my obsession and the resulting collection of photo albums, overflowing picture boxes, and online galleries:
- In early 2023, I moved back to New England after living in the DC area for the better part of 30 years. But I’ve always been a New Englander at heart—I drink iced coffee year round and don't consider it a storm unless we get at least a foot of snow.
- When we lived in DC, I actually looked forward to joining the masses at the Tidal Basin every year when the Cherry Blossoms are at peak bloom. They were my favorite part of living there—and you’ll find them everywhere in my shop!
- I love to hear laughter; bonus points when it's something I've said or done to cause it. Well, aside from that throw-rug incident….
- I ran track in high school. After a 30 year hiatus, I started running again about 10 years ago and discovered that I still hate it. Runner's high? Yeah, not so much.
- I’ve been married to my best friend since 1991—he's the best of the best, a true keeper. Even if he does love running.
- I’ve watched my two boyos grow into fine young men. They genuinely enjoy each other and I genuinely enjoy their banter.
- I’m a dedicated Francophile; I even sent my boys to a K-8 French immersion school. They exacted their revenge each year at science project time.
- I am obsessed with stationery. I used to spend hours creating letterhead, notecards, and invitations in PageMaker—yeah, I know, the kids are using InDesign these days. An Etsy shop that merges my love of photography with my love of stationery? That just seemed like a no-brainer.
