Bringing handmade love of the rosary to your home
As a work-from-home mom, knitting and sewing are "down-time" activities for me. I love to knit while watching TV, especially cooking competitions.
A friend of mine introduced me to a set of Rosary Roses that were crocheted. Not having mastered the crochet hook yet, I decided to work up a pattern that worked for knit. A few trials and I had a pattern that I love. My first set was a gift to a friend. She loved them so much, it started a little seed of a thought that grew into this shop.
I make the roses from cotton because in my mind, your little one is perhaps stuffing them in their mouth, rubbing them on their cheek, and generally being a small child with it. I wanted something that could be gently washed and loved well. This isn't your grandmother's heirloom rosary that they might snap, this is for them to love hard on.
Prayer is for all of us, big and little. The dream of these roses is bringing the rosary to your little ones. Giving them something to hold and count that fits their hands a little better. Let their introduction to the rosary be a tactile experience. Our Lady loves the prayers of little children - and I hope the little children learn to love to pray to her using these!
Also good for hands that can no longer grasp small beads for health reasons. The soft roses can be a soothing continuance of a lifelong prayer life.
